CHAPTER III
As
soon as the new CD came out and word of a possible reformation circulated,
interest from across Europe came in. In the next year, the new Altered
States managed what the original line-up never had - gigs in Germany
with Hamburg's Head on Fire and at the Indie Tours Festival
(see photo below) and in Turin and Milan. This was the first time their
Italian following had seen the band on home soil and all the albums
and merchandise was sold on the first date before the band even took
the stage !!!
In
April 1995, before the first of the live jaunts to mainland Europe,
the band returned to Alaska Studios to record their first new material
since the Ediesta sessions in 1987. Three tracks were put down in three
days - "Designer Reality", "The Absolute"
and "The Party's Over". The last of these remained
a favourite from the original band and only narrowly missed being recorded
first time around. The three-track single appeared on Primary a couple
of months later and the band recorded their first promotional video
for the title track.
Later that year, Steve Williams left the band and, soon after, Primary
Records also hit the financial buffers. History seemed to be repeating
itself. Gigs continued for some time but, in the end, Altered States
MK2 also came to an end. So what about chapter 3 ? Well, another five
years have passed, so it must be almost time !

The last line-up at The Marquee, late 1995.
